These are the most divine chocolate brownies ever and so easy to make.

- Remove from the heat and sift in the flour, icing sugar and cocoa, mix well.

- Beat together the eggs and the vanilla. Add to the other ingredients.

Sewing Sunday

It has been a rather wet and miserable day today, perfect for doing a bit of sewing.  I can't share what I'm making with you yet as its a present for someone but I can give you a little sneak peek ....

I also got around to making myself a pin cushion. I got the idea from here and it was just what I'd been looking for. I didn't bother spray painting my preserving jar ring and I kinda overstuffed mine a bit but it works a treat and now I no longer have random pins lying around on my sewing table.

Things I'm Loving ....

Normally I would have a few things that I'm loving but really this takes the cake, so heres what I'm loving this week ....

Isn't it awesome! Not brand new but I bought it off a good friend of mine for a good price, thanks Sharyn
I haven't had all that much time to play with it yet but I'm loving it already.

Here are a few pics that I took with it yesterday, Riley, for the most part was happy having his photo taken:

My mission for the next wee while is, practice, practice, practice! Lucky for me I have a super cute subject to photograph so it shouldn't be too much of a challenge.

Recipe: Chocolate Chip/Blueberry Pancakes

At the end of last week I tried out a recipe that I'd found on the internet for chocolate chip pancakes.

Well I loved the idea but the recipe was a bit of a let down. So I set about tweaking it a bit and now we have a yummy pancake recipe that works for both chocolate chips and blueberries, perfect for a treat or special occasion. If you find the blueberries a bit tart, I'd add some extra sugar or serve with maple syrup, yum! The batter also keeps really well in the fridge.

INGREDIENTS
2 cups plain flour
1tbsp baking powder
1tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar

2 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 oil
1 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup mini chocolate chips or frozen blueberries

METHOD
Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.

In a separate bowl combine the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Add to the dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips or blueberries.

Pour 1/4 cupfuls into a lightly greased pan. Turn when bubbles form on top, cook until both sides are golden brown.

Sewing: Tissue Case

I found this super quick and easy tutorial for a tissue case.

I'd wanted to make one for a while just because I think they are so cute .... I was not disappointed. In fact they are so cute that I think everyone should have one.

All the yummy beans that we've been getting from our garden.

Taking lots of fun photos ....

Bargain: Swing Set

Check it out! Brand new from The Warehouse, $52.47 (including postage) ....

Whats the catch I hear you ask? Well .... there isn't one!

I put most of it together and now Phil is just tightening everything and finishing it up. Riley had a blast playing on it this afternoon and I can't wait for him to get back out there tomorrow when its all set up properly.

So who's coming over to play?!

Things I'm Loving ....

Here are a few things that I'm loving this week ....

Box Pouches, I think I might be a little addicted to making them ....
I made this one for Riley but I made it with a lighter weight interfacing. It didn't turn out quite as good as my first one but he loves it. I also have another one on the go but it is proving troublesome (no idea why).

Bargains!
Big ups to Farmers who had a Christchurch only sale last weekend. There were some great bargains to be had for anyone willing to brave the crowds.

Homemade hot chocolate, mmmm ....
(You can find the recipe I use here)

Kindy is back!
Its nice to get Riley out of the house and have some time to myself again especially with Phil still working longer days.

I'm also loving that jacket ....

Sewing: Box Pouch

I have been looking for easy and relatively quick sewing projects so that I can keep practicing and learning. I've always liked the look of box pouches and pouches are always useful for something right?

I used this tutorial here which is very straight forward and easy to follow especially for someone like me who finds it hard making heads or tails of most tutorials even when they're labeled as 'easy'.

I'm very happy with how it turned out and now Riley wants me to make him one to keep some of his cars in.

Not sure what I'm going to put in this one yet but I'm thinking of filling it with first aid supplies that might be useful to have on me when we're out and about.

EDIT: It turns out that its the perfect size for a travel makeup case. So I guess I'll just have to make another one for my mini first aid kit.

Things I'm Loving ....

Here are a few things that I'm loving this week ....

Homemade muesli, a great way to start the day, yum!

Riley's learning laptop (he loves it too). It keeps him busy for ages and hes learnt so much from all the games and activities.

Fruity pops, (recipe here), perfect for this hot weather we've been having lately.

And finally, Riley, who usually runs screaming whenever I pull out my camera, actually let me take some nice photos of him today.

I'm also loving having him home with me. No idea when his Kindy will re-open but for now its nice to have him here where I know hes safe.
