Trade Me Find

I had been looking for one of these for ages without any success but finally I've managed to get my hands on one through good old trade me. As you can see in the picture the paint work is a bit shabby but nothing that a new coat of paint won't fix.

Now I can tick Riley's toys off my list of things that need organizing, just a million and one things to go! As Phil puts it, I'm an organizer-holic (his choice of words, not mine).

I've Been Published ....

I have two of my digital scrapbooking layouts in the latest issue of Scrapbook News and Review magazine! Its an online magazine and unfortunately I can't show them to you for several reasons:

1. I'm not allowed to display the layouts anywhere for 30 days from the date of publication.
2. The magazine is subscription only.

I have had one layout published by them previously and I'm very excited to have some more layouts appear in their magazine.

Scrapping: The Week Thats Been

Riley has caught his first cold of the new term and now I think I'm coming down with it too!
I'm still happily scrapping away in the evenings though, its how I like to relax once Riley has gone to bed.

Things I'm Loving ....

Here are a few things that I'm loving this week ....

Blogger is working again! I don't know if its just been me but I've been having some real issues with it this week.

Soup! There is nothing like sitting down to a nice, hot bowl of soup when its cold and miserable outside.

My snuggly new slippers!

This video. It makes me smile.

Mad About ....

CARS! Not just any cars though (well Riley is mad about cars in general) but Disney Pixar Cars.

It has become a daily ritual to watch the movie 'Cars' and he often busts out lines and re-enacts parts of the movie while hes playing.

He also loves ....

Needless to say he is looking forward to the release of the new 'Cars' movie in June.

Riley did such a good job at his swimming lesson on Saturday that this is what he got .... meet his new best friend, Mr The King!

Now Riley is intent on getting the rest of the characters from the movie, so we've started up a star chart (found here). We haven't worked out all the details yet but he has certain tasks to do that will earn him a star. I'm hoping to encourage him to be a bit  more independent and the chart gives him a better sense of time. I'm also starting to teach him a bit about money and that if he wants something he needs to work for it, he can't just have everything he wants.

I'm not sure how long this latest obsession will last but I have some ideas of what to get him for his birthday now if it should last that long.

Things I'm Loving ....

"I wholeheartedly believe that no matter what is happening in your life, there is always something that you can be thankful for... no matter how simple it is."
Here are a few things that I'm loving this week ....

Snuggly hot water bottles! Even though the weather seems to have warmed up a bit since I made the covers for them.

Pikelets with jam, yum!

This Guy and this Boy (who really didn't want to have his photo taken) ....
My wonderful partner who gave me my Mother's Day present early because I was tired and stressed
AND
my darling little boy who gave me my first Mother's Day card that he made himself at Kindy, which he is very proud of and I absolutely love it!

Sewing: Baby Stuff

I can finally reveal what I've been sewing over the last month or so .... baby stuff!

Phi'ls brother and his fiancée are expecting their first baby and I just couldn't pass up the chance to make a few things for bubs. There are so many cute and easy tutorials out there, makes me wish I'd had a sewing machine when Riley was a baby!

So heres what I made:

Travel changing mat, box pouch and tissue case.
Bib
Taggy cube
Taggy blanket
I have a few other little things which I have yet to send so I can't share them with you just yet. I'm really happy with how everything turned out and proud of myself for doing it. I often find sewing extremely frustrating but when I can get something to work, its very rewarding.

Scrapping: The Week Thats Been

I haven't been doing much scrapping this week. I've been tying up loose ends and taking a small break before the busyness that May will no doubt bring.

Sewing: Hot Water Bottle Covers

I'm not sure exactly when the cold weather arrived but in our house it has become normal to have extra blankets and the heaters on at night time. I'm not a fan of winter but when its cold I do love snuggling up in bed with my hot water bottle, so today's mission was to make a new cover for it and one for Phil too.

Can you guess which one is mine? LOL
If you are after a quick and easy sewing project then this is perfect. It took me no time at all to put together and I'm really pleased with the finished product. I even made the pattern myself which was a bit daunting as usually I use patterns that I find online.

I can't wait to snuggle up in bed with mine tonight!
